our story

S&N was founded by Susan and Neil Herbert, who envisioned owning their own business within Neil’s community of Henvey Inlet First Nation. Their goal was to provide products and opportunities to the members of Henvey Inlet First Nation and the surrounding communities they serve. Both Susan and Neil left their jobs and dedicated their hearts and souls to creating the business you see today.

Initially, the business started on a lot with a dilapidated house and overgrown brush. Through extensive renovations, hard work, and creative thinking, they transformed the space into S&N Convenience. The store was initially staffed by Susan and Neil, and the product offerings were limited. However, over time, the range of products expanded, and the team grew. During this period, a dispensary was added to offer cannabis products to customers, followed by the addition of a gas station. With each new venture, Susan, Neil, and their team rose to the occasion, overcoming different challenges and persevering. Throughout the years, the business faced various challenges and hardships, but it also experienced significant learning, love, support, and growth. What began as a modest convenience store has evolved into a thriving business, with an expanded new store coming soon to better serve customers. As S&N continues to grow, they aim to provide more opportunities to the local communities they serve. Stay tuned for exciting developments in the next chapters of their journey. Neil and Susan are deeply grateful to the Henvey Inlet First Nation community for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in reaching their current success. They also extend their gratitude to their current and former team members, whose time, effort, and dedication have been the foundation upon which S&N was built. Lastly, they thank their customers for their continued support and patience as they take on new challenges and grow their small business into what it has become today, and what it will become in the next ambitious chapters they’re planning.
